ASME Plant Inspector Level 3
Our ASME Level 3 plant inspector course is an advanced qualification for candidates who wish to demonstrate the highest level of technical knowledge relating to plant inspection.
The Level 3 course is suitable for those who wish to progress to a “Technical Authority” level in the oil, gas and petroleum industry where they will become involved in the life extension, fitness-for-service assessment, repair, re-rating of degraded pressure equipment and the necessary certification activities that accompany it. The training covers the principles of pressure equipment design, how to assess the damage tolerance of equipment in line with different design codes, the re-rating of damaged pressure equipment and the creation of basic Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports after failures and accidents.
The ASME Plant Inspector Certificate Programme consists of three levels:
- ASME Plant Inspector Level 1
- ASME Plant Inspector Level 2 – (Senior) Plant Inspector
- ASME Plant Inspector Level 3 – Technical Authority.
To be accepted onto the ASME Level 3 course, candidates should hold ASME Level 2 as a minimum equivalent. Strict screening will be conducted on individuals who don’t hold Level 2 and they may be accepted onto the course on a case by case basis.
All course material, text books, exam and certificate costs are included in the course fee.
Delegates must undergo an assessment procedure to attend this course.
To achieve certification, delegates must achieve over 70% in two examinations:
- A multi-choice examination paper

Successful delegates are awarded the Level 3 Plant Inspector (Technical Authority) issued by ASME and a wallet ID card as evidence of their qualification.
