Edif ERA is pleased to be supporting this event being held in London on 22nd and 23rd March 2017. We will be on hand to share our experience in supporting a wide range of rail projects worldwide, delivering services including:
- Safety assurance
- Systems engineering
- Training and learning solutions
- Electromagnetic compatibility
- Power systems and earthing
- Condition assessment
- Failure investigation
Edif ERA is part of the RINA Group, and we will be joined by one of our colleagues from D’Appolonia’s Railway Engineering Team, also part of the RINA Group, who have extensive experience in the rail sector and have worked on a variety of ERTMS projects.
Below are three examples of European ERTMS projects that the team has worked on recently:
Italian High Speed Project
Since 2004, D’Appolonia has been providing management and implementation of the Safety, RAM and T&C activities throughout the life of this ERTMS High Speed project, for a number of contractors involved, including: Alstom (the supplier of Trackside and On Board ERTMS L2); Balfour Beatty, now Alpiq Enertrans, (main supplier of traction and power subsystems); and Saturno JV (the JV in charge for the construction). The Italian High Speed Project is the main Italian railway investment programme undertaken in the last twenty years. It involved the design, construction and operation of more than 600 kms of new national railways infrastructure and rolling stock.
Ankara – Istanbul High Speed Train Project
D’Appolonia provided systems engineering and management services for the Köseköy-Gebze railway line, which is part of the Ankara – Istanbul High SpeedTrain Project. The line is a double-track section 56 km long serving passenger and freight transport for the region and the whole rail network, located in a densely populated industrial urban region. The work was contracted through Salini-Impregilo, a major Italian construction company.
Norway – ERTMS National Implementation
D’Appolonia provided Safety and RAM Specialist Advisory Services to Jernbaneverket (now Bane NOR) during the concept design of the programme and preparation of tenders. The Norwegian Railway Infrastructure is undergoing an important programme to renew the signalling system on the National Railway Network with ERTMS L2. The programme is supposed to continue till 2030 and will see the adoption on all the national lines of a new trackside and traffic management system. Rolling Stock will be upgraded as well with ETCS L2 train control systems.
